What is an Assaulted Staff Action Program (ASAP)?
The Assaulted Staff Action Program (ASAP) is a program designed to help you if you are assaulted at work. ASAP will help you get the medical attention and other assistance you need, so that you can recover from your assault as quickly as possible. You can also use ASAP to report the assault to the police, if that's what you want to do. ASAP offers medical and mental health services, as well as legal advice from our lawyers who specialize in workplace violence cases. If needed, we can also arrange for transportation home or even relocation if it's unsafe for you to stay at work after being assaulted. You should know that ASAP is confidential; we won't tell anyone else about your case unless we're legally required to do so.
What services does the Assaulted Staff Action Program offer?
The ASAP program offers several important services. First, it will help you file a claim with your insurance company. Employers know that if you've been assaulted on the job, you may not feel like dealing with insurance paperwork and filing a claim right away, but ASAP makes this process as easy as possible for you. They'll also work with your employer to ensure that they are following all of their policies and procedures for reporting assaults on staff members. Second, ASAP will provide support during this difficult time. The people who have hurt or threatened you may still be around, and it can be hard to know how to protect yourself from them or what to do next. The ASAP team is there to help guide you through these difficult situations and provide any resources that might be helpful. Finally, ASAP will offer counseling services for victims of assault or harassment who need emotional support in order for them to heal from the trauma they've experienced. These services are confidential and completely free of charge!
